"I had the great opportunity to meet Maestro Ennio Nicotra in 2015, in an international orchestral conducting course in Florianópolis, Brazil.
The contact with Musin's technique was astounding, it helps you to clearly transmit your musical idea to the orchestra, it solves technical problems always in conjunction with expressive aspects.
Maestro Ennio Nicotra is a keen observer of each student who stands on the podium ... he always has some gesture, musical suggestion or personalized exercise to offer you ...
He really contributes, adds to your way of conducting, he does not try to change your gestures but rather proposes that you build new movements in relation to Musin's technique and your own. The relationship is pedagogical, respectful and friendly, He highlights your strengths and works on what is not good.
I remember that together with another colleague we commented: Ennio Nicotra is the mix between a sculptor and a coach in terms of the gestures of a conductor!!!
Another aspect of great importance is the atmosphere of companionship and camaraderie that develops in the course ... Perhaps one of the most important issues of a course is undoubtedly making contact with colleagues from different parts of the world, to know how orchestras develop in other societies, to know that we are not alone in this wonderful but difficult and lonely profession ...together with colleagues that I met in the course I have developed several exchanges and this has been of great importance for my way of living music, my profession and my work."
