A few years ago I decided to buy *INTRODUCTION TO THE TECHNIQUE OF ORCHESTRAL CONDUCTING ACCORDING TO THE SCHOOL OF ILYA MUSIN* by Ennio Nicotra.
I watch the attached DVD and am struck by the clarity and beauty of the Gesture. From the "divine simplicity" that shines through.
I start watching any video about The School and The Method on YouTube and then I decide to write an email to maestro Nicotra.
It was immediately clear to me from the response that I was reading a "Great Soul" and the desire to attend his courses was born in me, but concomitant professional commitments did not allow me to do so until November 2023.

The incipit and explicitness of the well-known poem "Ithaca" by Konstantin Kavafis perfectly embody the essence of the Lessons of M° Nicotra, they are each a journey full of stages, treasures and wonders to discover; like every journey, unexpected things happen and there are obstacles to overcome but you are always eager to set off again, ever richer than the experiences you have had.
Personally, I immediately perceived after the first lesson that this meeting would transform me, like Saul in Paul on the road to Damascus, into a new man.
If I had to describe the essence of the Musiniana technique faithfully handed down by M° Nicotra I would rely on a collection taken from my chosen Baroque repertoire: *Musicalischer Parnassus* by Johann Kaspar Ferdinand Fischer.
Yes, because just as happens in the aforementioned work, the "Nicotrian" Gesture draws inspiration from and pays homage to a joyful banquet that brings together the Muses... Calliope, Melpomene, Thalia, Erato, Euterpe, Terpsichore, Polymnia.
I will never stop advising especially young people to take a... detour during their trip... and treat themselves to an unexpected stop and who knows..."

Musician (Conductor, Coach, Accompanist and Continuo player) and Teacher, accomplished his studies thanks to well-known performers he met over the years who directly and indirectly helped to shape, strengthen and enrich his cultural and musical background.
To improve his competence, he studied at the same time: singing, history and technique of belcanto, Italian music performing practice in the 18th and 19th century, performance of the opera repertoire, techniques and styles of the operatic vocalism with the famous Michael Aspinall. He focused his work on musical perfomance, especially in the opera theater, with historical and philological support.
He performed as piano accompanist, continuo – harpsichord and fortepiano- player with singers, conductors, directors and instrumentalists in concert halls and in the most famous festivals and theaters.
He performed with Ottavio Dantone, Renè Jacobs, Jean Christophe Spinosi, Jérémie Rhorer, John Elliot Gardiner, Semyon Bychkov, Daniele Gatti, Bruno Campanella, Dmitri Jurowski, Graham Vick, Elio De Capitani, Cecilia Bartoli, Mariella Devia…
he was continuo player and assistant to M° Dantone, with whom he permanently collaborates in other theatres
He was Assitant (continuo player/ vocal coach/ conductor) to M° Dmitri Jurowski at the Novosibirsk state academic opera and ballet theatre
He currently collaborates with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia as continuo player.

Head lecturer (collaborative conductor and korrepetitor: vocal repertoire practice – score reading and piano accompaniment practice) at the Conservatorio “Santa Cecilia” in Rome
He has been a collaborative piano conductor at the Opera Studio courses of the National Academy of “Santa Cecilia” in Rome.
Since 2012 he has taught Master Classes with Mariella Devia at the Showa University of Music in Kawasaki, Japan
